Reading John 1:12-13
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor
of the will of man, but of God.
Many times in preaching we finish with verse 12 but need to read
verse 13
Many people preach easy believe-ism. Salvation is sold by its
benefits
The law needs to be preached.
Galatians 3:24 - Wherefore the law was
our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Are true believers eternally secure?
YES
Great theologians of the past spoke of
Perseverance of the Saints.
“Those who are truly regenerated,
effectually called, and really converted, and internally sanctified by the
Spirit and Grace of God, shall persevere in grace to the end and shall be
everlastingly saved; they shall never finally and totally fall, so as to perish
everlastingly.” (John Gill)
There needs to be more than just a
profession of faith.
- Matthew 7:20
- 1 John 2:19
- Matthew 7:22-23
There will be a change in that person.
2 Peter 1:10
God did not elect men and call them by
His Spirit just to accept Christ, but that there should be this ongoing walk of
faith, persevering unto the end, being saved to the uttermost. Matthew 10:22
The hallmark of grace
- Phil 3:14
- Hebrews 12:1-2
- Isaiah 40:31
- Hebrews 6:1
- 2 Cor 7:1
John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice,
and I know them, and they follow me: And
I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any
man pluck them out of my hand.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves,
whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves,
how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Read Jude 24-25
It is good to know that Jesus Christ is praying for us.
